Another specialty of the Parc Montsouris is the Mire du Sud or the south bearing of the Paris Meridian. This 4m small monument constructed in 1806 is historically rich. French cartographers and astronomers used the Mire du Sud to measure the meridian of longitude from as early as 1666 to 1884. Near to this monument is 135 medallions placed along the meridian line. Moreover, the Parc Montsouris also is a place where public artworks are displayed. There are several marble and bronze sculptures placed at different positions across the park allowing visitors to enjoy them at leisure.

Entering the Parc Montsouris

Visitors can get to the Parc Montsouris by using public transport such as the metro. The park is located between the Rue d’Alesia and the Cite Universitaire de Paris.
